The Patricia is a purpose built vessel for maintenance of navigational buoys, service to lighthouses and lightships and, on occasion, to deal with ship wrecks that are a danger to navigation. Equipped with cranes and towing winches, she is capable of lifting buoys and moving lightships to and from their stations. She also has a helideck (heliport). Having just six cabins, only a small number of passengers can be accommodated. Coupled with the type of work the ship undertakes, a voyage aboard the Patricia is an experience unlike anything else on the cruise market. |
|
Passengers are able to view the day-to-day activities this working ship undertakes as well as a variety of coastlines around England, Wales and the Channel Islands. Depending on the time of the year, you’ll have an opportunity to take in the scenery of diverse flora and fauna, from a unique viewpoint. While Harwich on the East Coast is the base port, the vessel calls regularly at other ports and harbors. It is possible to go ashore only occasionally. |
| The ship is not always alongside at a port. At some locations she will anchor offshore and passengers will be transferred to and from the ship by a work boat. There is no need for concern however. You are not required to climb long ladders up the side of the ship. Simply step into the work boat at port, enjoy the journey out to the Patricia, sit comfortably while you are lifted up on the ship in the work boat and then step straight onto the deck. |
